Common console problems and what the symptoms may mean.

This page is meant to help customers describe the problem more clearly. It is not a promise that every symptom has one cause, but it does explain why some consoles need diagnosis before the right repair can be chosen.

Symptoms customers mention most

  • No signal or black screen
  • Damaged HDMI port
  • Not charging or no power
  • Overheating or shutting down
  • Intermittent operation

No display

If the console powers on but there is no image, the issue may involve the HDMI connector, the board around it, or another video-related fault.

Damaged HDMI port

Visible connector damage is common, but the board underneath also needs to be checked for lifted pads or trace damage.

Not charging

On handheld systems the problem may be the charge port, but the charging circuit or other board-level faults can look similar.

No power

A console that will not turn on may have a short, power-rail issue, failed charge path, or another fault that requires diagnosis.

Overheating

Thermal problems can lead to shut downs, unstable behaviour, or damage over time if the root cause is not addressed.

Intermittent behaviour

Problems that appear only some of the time are often the hardest to guess correctly without inspection.
