Privacy and website measurement

Updated October 17, 2026

Understanding interest in our website

We use first-party analytics on our own server to count public page requests and clicks on Amazon product links in our Tools and Links directories. These counts help us understand which information and products are useful. This is analytics even though it does not use tracking cookies.

Page-request reports are aggregated from existing web-server logs. Product-click measurement sends the product identifier, the Tools or Links source page, Canada or USA marketplace and an optional allowlisted campaign source to our server. We record the server time and add the click to aggregate counters. Product names and categories come from our catalogue.

No visitor profiles

Our affiliate-click measurement does not set cookies, use browser storage, fingerprint your browser or create a persistent visitor identifier. It does not send your form entries, contact details or purchase information. A new random token for each click prevents duplicate counting and expires after ten minutes; it is not reused to connect separate clicks.

Click requests omit cookies and the page referrer. Ordinary network requests still expose an IP address and browser headers to our web server, and existing access or security logs may record them. We do not add those details to our analytics tables or use them to build visitor profiles. We do not use Google Analytics, third-party analytics scripts or advertising pixels for this measurement.

Retention and choices

Affiliate click totals are retained by hour for up to 90 days, with minute totals kept for up to two hours. Traffic totals are retained by hour for up to 400 days, with minute totals kept for 48 hours. Reports are restricted to authorized operators.

The product-click script respects Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track when your browser supplies those signals. Blocking the script or endpoint does not prevent Amazon links from working. Server logs can still record ordinary page requests.

Amazon links

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon links go directly to their existing destinations. Our counts measure attempted clicks, not confirmed Amazon visits, purchases or commissions. After you follow a link, Amazon's own privacy practices apply.
